Y-Strainers

This is the most popular among all types of Strainers due to its simplicity, lesser weight & low price. Its name is derived from its Y Shape body.

They are commonly installed at suction to prevent debris from entering Pumps, Compressors & Rotating Equipment& Vessels. Common Size is 15Nb to 400 Nb.

The debris is collected at bottom of ‘Y’ Leg & it can be removed by flushing through drain hole or by opening Cover & removing Screen.

Construction of Y Strainers:

Most popular is Cast Construction. Smaller size & high pressure Y Strainers are made in forged construction. Sometimes low pressure & low priced firefighting water service Steel Strainers are made in fabricated construction.

Rubber lined & PTFE lined Y Strainers are offered for arduous service.

Size : We offerSize DN 15 to DN 400.
End Connection : Flange End connection is widely used. Smaller size Strainers have socket weld or threaded connection. For High Pressure explosive, hazardous & gaseous service sometimes Butt weld ends are also used.
Pressure Rating : Flange End & Butt Weld End : ASME B 16.5 150#, 300#, 600#, 900#, 1500# & 2500#.
Threaded End: ASME B 1.20.1 NPT & BSPT- Rating 800# & 1500#.
Material Specifications :

  • A,Cast Steel: SA 216 Gr. WCB & WCC. ForLow Temperature- SA 352 Gr LCB.
  • B, Cast Alloy Steel: SA 217 Gr WC6,WC9, WC11 & WC22.
  • C, Cast Stainless Steel: SA 351 Gr CF8, CF3, CF8M, CF3M, CF8C etc.
  • D, Duplex & Super Duplex SS: SA 995 Gr 4A, 5A & 6A.
Screen Size : 4 Mesh to 100 Mesh.

  • Screen Size is moderate to high. Dirt holding capacity is better. Hence Shut down time is longer.
